The following demonstration of airplane noise levels shows the difference in noise reduction level from when no insulation is used to when excellent insulation is applied. To hear the difference, double click on the speaker icon.

This demonstration requires sound (make sure your speakers are turned up)

Original airplane sound ≈90dB

Indoor sound without insulation ≈73dB

With poor insulation ≈60dB

With good insulation≈51dB

With excellent insulation≈38dB
